Many Union City Residents received the most recent UC/CLEAN Neighborhoods newsletter published by Tri-CED Recycling and Allied Waste.  In the Newsletter, there is an article that talks about downsizing your trash cart.

Events in San Francisco streets and parks could become BYOB - as in bring your own bottle.

A ban on the sale of single-use water bottles at events on city property - including parks, streets and festivals - is being pitched. And considering San Francisco's trend-setting policies on plastic bags and soda, it's likely to pass.

The T.R.E.E. (Tri-CED Recycling Environmental Education) Trailer will visit Union City and Hayward elementary schools. The curriculum is designed for 3rd, 4th and 5th graders.

Expanding California's Bottle Bill

The Case for Expanding California's Container Recycling Law ("The Bottle Bill") to Include Wine and Liquor Containers


The City of Union City and Tri-CED Community Recycling lead efforts in extending California's Bottle Bill to include wine and liquor containers.

Summary of Proposal - Legislation should be enacted to expand California's successful Container Recycling Program to include wine and liquor bottles. More than 600 million glass & plastic wine and liquor bottles are generated in California, more than 70% of which are currently littered or land filled. Providing a 5 and 10 cent consumer refund will substantially increase the recycling of these containers, reduce urban litter, conserve natural resources and help to create jobs.
