Woodlands Restoration Project

Masonic Restoration Project

The Masonic Restoration Project is a long-term collaborative effort between the Masons of Union City, Tri-CED Community Recycling, and the Math Science Nucleus of Fremont. The project began in 2011 with a plan and vision to restore a portion of the Union City hills to the flourishing habitat that once existed prior to the settlement of the Spaniards in the early 1800s. The project puts into practice the unique concept of using the food waste that is generated on-site as part of a “recipe” to create compost that is then used to nourish native oak trees and other native flora to help re-create the original landscape.
