Proper Set Out

Proper Cart Set Out on Collection Day

Collection Day: Single Stream Recycling and Yard/Food Waste carts are serviced weekly.

  • Set out containers before 6:00 a.m.
  • Place containers in the street gutter, wheels against the curb
  • Carts should be 2 feet apart to allow for pickup by automated trucks
  • Carts should be at least 3 feet from parked vehicles
  • Remove carts from curb within 24 hours after collection.
Holidays: No service on New Year's, Thanksgiving, Christmas. If your trash service falls on or after a holiday, service will be delayed one day that week.

Single Stream Curbside Recycling

Single Stream Recycling allows you to put all your recyclable materials - cans, plastics, mixed paper and cardboard - into one recycling cart.

  • Single Stream recycling simplifies recycling - all recyclable materials are mixed together in one container.
  • Single Stream recycling is so easy, the number of people who recycle increases; therefore, the pounds of recycled materials collected also increases.
  • Single Stream recycling cuts down on litter on collection day
  • The hinged lids on the carts keep recyclable materials in the cart and dry.
  • The wheeled carts make transportation easier, no more heavy lifting of those yellow tubs.
  • Automated collection reduces the amount of time collection trucks are on the streets and that's good for the environment.

Can I get a different size cart ?
You may request a smaller (48-gallon) or larger (96-gallon) recycling cart. To order a new cart, call Tri-CED at (510) 429-8030.
